If you are wondering why seminars can cost you an arm or a leg, it’s because they work. So why do seminars work? Now when you go to a seminar you meet people who are just like you.
Naturally you feel motivated by the competition. At a seminar you’ll feel the pressure to produce results. Your comfortable bedroom office does not create the same atmosphere. It’s really embarrassing when others are pulling in results live at a seminar and you are getting no results at all.
Usually during a seminar you’ll have workshops to actually practice the things you learn. You are guided and you get instant answers from the coaches and instructors.
It is this motivation, pressure and the desire to out-perform one another that pushes everyone at the seminar to give their best, hence drawing out the real potential to actually act on the techniques they’ve just learnt.
Learn how to harness this same power at home. You will see the monstrous results as well. If you’ve ever been to or heard of the Internet Marketing Summit, you should know that normal people like yourself and me who have never made a red cent online can actually pull in $20,000 overnight with a little challenge they hold even after the seminar.
Unbelievable? Not really. The methods they learn are not new to the industry. So what’s new? Action. These people finally sit down and act on (either as a team or individually) to get the thing done by following instructions step by step, and rolling out their promotions in record time.
Viola… the next thing they know… they wake up with results. The KEY here is to take ACTION. That is the only shortcut to success. But to act on what you know is never easy. If it is everyone would be filthy rich by now. This is especially hard if you are as lazy as I am and not cut out to be an entrepreneur.
With that said, how in the world are you supposed to get yourself to take action? You’ve heard all the gurus said the same thing. Take action, take action…. Take action… but in the end… all the advice about taking action is worth nothing if they don’t teach you HOW to get yourself to act.
Let’s see…Motivation certainly was not enough to get me to act. A to-do list helped a little but not quite. So what is it you need?
The answer to taking action is…..
P.R.E.S.S.U.R.E
Apply some pressure to the ball on the floor and it will roll. It’s simple physics. Apply some pressure to yourself and you will start moving. Remember the time when you were in the office taking your own sweet time or just day dreaming… until your Boss came yelling at you? That’s when you picked up speed and really tried to get the job done. That’s pressure from your boss.
Well, the pressure has to be just right. Too little pressure and you’ll just ignore it. Too much pressure and you’ll just give up. It’s easy to just give up in Internet Marketing, remember?
I know there are people in the IM world who are having a tough time right now. I have emails coming from subscribers telling me that they have no money to start; that their wives have just left them… etc.
Yet they still do not get into the act. Why? There’s too much pressure and they are afraid to take any more risk. So this group of people needs to get their life straight first. Get a job. Collect some money for capital. Relax. Calm down and solve all your other problems first. Don’t start your online business until you are ready to take on the challenges of internet marketing.
Okay, back to what type of product is good for you. We’ve talked about seminars and we know that they are good but it can cost you an arm and a leg. How about a DVD home study course? In short, the answer is not quite the solution.
The required information may be there. The course is shipped to your doorstep as a whole package. And we all know that when the DVD set arrives we will sit there and consume the whole package in one go. And when you finally reach the final disc you are too overwhelmed and too tired to take any action.
In fact most of us will take some rest and then go look for more information… This happens even more in internet marketing due to the large number of new e-books launched every single month. You joined 50 email lists and get bombarded by gurus each one telling you about this great new course that you must have immediately!
And so the cycle repeats. You buy the new course, read it or watch it… and then you do nothing about what you’ve just read or watched. I am sure many of you may know Internet Marketing more than some of the gurus out there because you sit down to learn and read everything with every extra time you can spare.
Do you now see the reason why you are not earning anything yet? Those who are actually earning money don’t just read. They ACT. Don’t tell me:
“Yes I did ‘ACT’ but I did not see any return even after that.”
Go back and look at what you did? Buying a domain name and signing up a hosting account is not enough. BUILDING a website and setting up your webpage is only 20% of the game!
It’s called ‘Internet Marketing’… not ‘Building a website’
So can you make a DVD course better? Yes… but how? You do it with Discipline. What you need to do is this: pull out the first disc, watch it and act on it.
You need to solve immediately every question that emerges from your course. It’s only after that then you pull out the second disc and act on whatever they teach you in there. Keep doing this until you reach the final disc.
Will you make money after that? Maybe. But the important thing here is that you take action and you gain experience. You might have made some mistakes and there could also be missing puzzle pieces you may need to look elsewhere.
Here’s an example. Let’s say that the course you bought teaches you how to build a website and set up your own product. You do all that. But it’s not enough.
Why? Because you’ll need to learn how to get traffic (visitors) to your website. So off you go to get a good course on how to get traffic and then act on it. Will you earn money on reaching this stage? Maybe not yet… it depends on the conversion rate of your webpage. So off you go to learn more about how to increase the conversion rate of your website and act on it. This process goes on and on until your actions earn you money!
Warning: It is best not to buy several courses at once and devour them all once because you will definitely feel burnout especially when you know how much work is involved.
And this, my friend is the shortcut to Internet Marketing success— you must act quickly and act accordingly. This is the path you must take if you want to succeed.
If you do what everyone else is doing… buy a book to read and then never act on it … then go out and buy another book… you will never move on from the learning phase. Only when you act will you actually improve and profit from it.
Another way to beat laziness is to take small steps at a time… Completing this article was a huge task for a lazy guy like me. So what I did was to promise myself to spend only half an hour each day working on it.
Which was not much but it got me started to actually write it. Funny thing is, once I started writing it I found it hard to stop. Half an hour soon became 2-3 hours of non-stop writing.
And before I knew it, I had completed half the book! So try to get yourself started by doing things in small steps. Make it look ridiculously easy to do so that you don’t have too much of an excuse not to begin.
This brings me to the topic of excuses. You need to be able to recognize excuses as they come. And when you see the excuses coming, eliminate them immediately so that you can focus on the important stuff.
Allow me to tell you an interesting story. A subscriber emailed me about his thoughts and knowledge concerning internet marketing. He went on and on with a long email explaining to me how long he had been online, expressing his thoughts on Affiliate Marketing, and then went on to talk about Adsense. Then he talked about eBay before explaining the logic of tracking keywords and how ROI should really be calculated.
I was quite impressed actually until I asked him how much he was earning on the good months and if he could show me some of his websites. He replied, “I don’t have any website yet, but I am going to build one as soon as I have the time.”
I was so shocked!
He knew so much but he had done nothing yet. How are you supposed to earn money? How are you supposed to have time to act on anything if everything you ever do is just read and have not acted on your knowledge?
At the very least, sit down and plan what needs to be done and hire someone to do it for you if you have so much money to spend on all the books. (Hiring other people to do the boring stuff is always a good idea if you have the money.)
You really need to set your mind in the right direction. And then steer your body towards it. Right now I want you to put your right hand up and say this:
“Only Result Matters… Any other reasons I give myself are just lame excuses.”

A good read. I used to have trouble feeling motivated, but I found my issue was distractions. I had plenty, so I’ve been cutting them down while I work. Don’t need too much pressure, do we?
