In the last two articles we have seen how thank you affects customer retention, and how you can be personal with your clients and get business. This is no gimmick friend. This is for real. Thank you is a powerful word and when said sincerely, it opens many doors for us. It also allows you entry in your customer’s private domain. Just imagine the possibility once you are inside.
There is one more front where you can benefit from saying thank you, and that is the professional world of your clients. The way to show gratitude here is different from the way you used to show gratitude at the personal front, but the effect of thank you on this front is far-reaching. In the following paragraphs we will learn how to show gratitude on the professional front.
Gift Info products
Nothing is more valuable in today’s business world as the knowledge. It is the information that is of some value in today’s world, rest (capital, raw materials, man power, technology, etc.) is mere commodity.
Give your clients power-packed e-books, whitepapers, reports, workbook, checklists, videos, audios, and multimedia presentations, etc., for free. Tell them how that is going to change the way they look at their respective industry.
Do not make your information product mere a “disguised marketing document”. Give real information that will add some value to your clients’ business. if you think sending a hard copy of any document is not always possible then you can send soft copy (PDFs) as e-mail attachment. This will save the printing, binding, and delivery cost.
Reward referrals
If a client of yours is referring someone to you then consider is the highest form of compliment because a person will never refer you to someone unless they are fully satisfied with your offering.
If your client is referring his or her friend to you then do not let this act pass unrecognized. Send them a mail (preferably paper mail) and thank them for the referral. You should also include a discount coupon for your products, or free voucher of food, drink, travel, etc. Alternatively, you can even include a small gift.
Rewarding referrals will push your clients to refer more people to you. They will even talk about it. Always remember not to send same gift to one client twice, until asked.
Send referrals
Your client is going to love you for this. This is the ultimate way of saying thank you. If your client is a business owner then send him or her some referrals. This is a special gesture that never gets unnoticed. Sending referral to your clients will put you in her good book.
After sending referral, do not forget to send them an e-mail stating how you liked doing business with them, and that is why you are referring your friends to them. In the mail, mention the names and contact numbers of people you have referred to your client. By doing this you are showing trust in client’s business. in business, trust brings trust.
Tell them you haven’t forgotten
Designate one or two days in a year to celebrate the togetherness. Tell your clients how much you care for her. Fix one date to host a party or special sale for your clients to reward their stay with you.
Invite your past clients (even those who stopped doing business with you, but where very profitable once) for a lunch, if you and your clients are in the same area. If they are geographically dispersed then mail them the discount coupon or host an online event for them. You can also host a private sale for them.
Inviting your past clients (those who have discontinued your services) is a nice way to rebuild your broken tie. They, on getting invited, will feel special. They will know that you still care for them, and this gesture will be rewarded.
Saying thank you and showing gratitude never goes in vain. It bears results, at times it may take some time for the results to come by, but it will come.
Always remember that this is not a marketing gimmick, and it should not be treated as such. You will only get rewarded, if you are sincere in your showing gratitude.
